A friend from my guild, Cindy, hosted a quilt along on her blog, Hyacinth Quilt Designs. The goal was to make at least nine blocks of the pattern Outlined Plus Quilt by Meadow Mist Designs. I knew I wanted to partcipate but didn't really know what I wanted to do. Then one morning last week I woke up with an idea and ran with it.
I decided on white or low volume white for the background, my beautiful bright Blueberry Park fabrics for the outline, and black and white fabrics for the plus. I cut fabric for nine blocks to start and they went together really quickly.
As soon as I had nine blocks completed, I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it. My stepdaughter is pregnant with her first baby, our first granddaughter. I remember both my boys loving black and white prints when they were babies and with the bright fabrics, I think this will be perfect for her. So ... off to make seven more blocks so it would be big enough for a baby quilt.
I ordered this beautiful bright pink Blueberry Park print for the back. And then, because I know her mom loves dogs, I picked this Urban Zoologie puppy print for the binding.
For the quilting, I did my go to favorite of swirls with hearts.
This quilt was so much fun to make and went together really, really quickly. I just may have to make one for myself.
