I needed a little something to add to a little contrast to my other mini in my bedroom so I decided to try a little improv applique.
A friend from my guild, Cindy, hosted a quilt along on her blog, Hyacinth Quilt Designs. The goal was to make at least nine blocks of the pattern Outlined Plus Quilt by Meadow Mist Designs. I knew I wanted to partcipate but didn't really know what I wanted to do. Then one morning last week I woke up with an idea and ran with it.
I am part of a monthly bee, Sew Bee It, through my local quilt guild, St. Louis Modern Quilt Guild. If you are not familiar with a bee, basically it is a small group, usually up to 12 members. Each member gets assigned a month and during that month all the other members make a block or blocks of her choosing. They may provide fabric or part of the fabric and the rest is pulled from your stash.
Today I made some fun pen holders. They were quick and easy so I thought I'd share with you how I made them as well as give one away.
